What else is there to do besides fighting?
With hundreds of Dagorhir members camping out for the week, there are lots of opportunities to socialize with new and old friends. After the fighting is over, many people love to visit other camps or to host people in their camp, sharing a beverage and retelling war stories that get more grand and heroic each time they are retold. There are also a number of merchants at Ragnarok, so take the time to wander through the merchant areas and at least window shop. There is a wide variety of items available, from garb and armor, to weapons (real and padded) and many other useful things for Dagorhir or camping. |
“Ragnarok is Dagorhir’s famous annual war. For one week each year, the Realms of Dagorhir throughout the country gather for the final glorious battle: Ragnarok! Leave the real world behind and enter a realm of mighty heroes. A realm of the fantastic where warrior maidens and grizzled veterans fight side by side with Elves and Orcs. Ragnarok is a week-long extravaganza of mass melee and fun…a living, breathing celebration of Tolkien’s works and of the European history that inspired those works. This event draws hundreds of Tolkien and medieval combat enthusiasts from all over the United States. Triumphs and defeats, parades and parties, tournaments and pit fighting, belly dancers, song, friendship, bloody battles and more lead up to the final battle and celebration!”

“The National Haunters Convention is like a huge reunion…. We offer many of the features of a large haunt convention without the large bite out of your budget. If you are a Professional or Amateur haunter, a Halloween home or yard haunter, or just plan the coolest Halloween parties among all your friends, then this convention is for you. [W]e welcome everyone who is into Goth, horror movies, classic movies, animatronics, robots, makeup, prop building, airbrushing, or just plain anything to do with Halloween to attend. Our seminars are top notch, and you will find vendors that have products and services that will amaze you.
There are NO Age restrictions to the Convention Show Floor (Children are invited). However, please keep in mind this is a Halloween and Horror Show. Therefore, you will see lots of props and products that are both very bloody, gory, and disturbing, so we wouldn’t recommend bringing a 4 year old child, for example (unless his name is Chucky).”
